Conquering Fear With Alex Honnold

Usually when you set a record, someone is right behind you to break it.

Alex Honnold didn't just set records he shattered them.

There is no one behind him right now that is willing to attempt his biggest feats even though they know it possible.

The 4 minute miles was broken by Roger Bannister in 1954 and 2 months later another runner John Landy ran a sub four mile too.

When you have an outlier amongst outliers you should always study them.

Alex Honnold is worth studying if you want to over come fear.

There is a video of him taking professional climber Magnus free soloing.

Watching that video shows you how to tackle fear in real time.

Magnus mentions how much easier the climb was because he was with Alex.

The mirror neurons in his head were firing and taking notes on how to be calm and collected in that extreme.

Alex slowly talked and coached Manus through till the top.

You will notice that he wasn't pushing Magnus he was simple reassuring him of his skill and the basics.

Magnus alone wouldn't do this climb but with guidance of Alex, Magnus was able to reach his full potential that day.

Not everyone can have an expert helping them along their life.

Even if you have the skill to do something, your fear can keep you from it.

Learn from people like Alex so you can become your own professional guide.

You know your skill level, your heart knows what you are capable of.

Alex suggests that if you are too scared to imagine a dream then you are not ready, but if you imagine a dream and feel empowered by it, then you know you can take steps toward realizing it.

Most of your path, you will have to take alone.

Remind yourself of the basics, they will always serve you.

Train so you can trust in your ability.

A lack of trust is what separates people from their super powers.

You have to find ways to trust yourself and constantly remind yourself that you are worth trusting so you can overcome the obstacles you will face.

Life is stretches out infinitely in all directions.

Don't focus on what is ahead or behind you, just focus on what is Infront of you and you will be able to conquer fear like Alex Honnold does.

This internal guidance will help you reach past your limits and keep you focused when the stress starts to build.

Just remind yourself of the basics, trust in your training, and take to the next frontier that you want to conquer.

Once you are in the moment you don’t need to be anywhere else just focus.

Fear is nothing in the face of courage.
